Rankin Elementary Lost and Found is Overflowing!

Parents, once again we must ask for your assistance with our overflowing lost and found area. We have quite a collection of hats, gloves, shirts and even some lunch boxes and shoes! If your child’s name is on their belongings we can return lost items to them. If there is not a name we can only hope that someone recognizes their stuff and picks it up. Rankin Elementary Lost and Found is Overflowing! With the warmer weather coming soon, kids tend to take off their coats when out for recess and then go back inside leaving them on the play ground. These items often make their way to lost and found. If you are dropping off your student, or picking up early, please take a minute and look through our collection of lost and found and see if anything belongs at your house. Any lost and found items left behind once school is out will be donated.

Each guess is just $.25 and the winner will be announced on the 28th. Each classroom also has a penny box to collect spare change. The money raised by the classrooms will help to support the Pennies for Patients program. The classroom who raises the most money will win a pizza party next month.

Rankin YouthQuest Update!

Club activities resumed this week at Rankin. However, because this rotation will only last through March, we decided to let the students switch clubs each week and encourage them to try something new. Science Club ran several experiments with gasses while the Popped Art Club earned how to grout tile by making drink coasters.

Wednesday’s Rankin Olympics also saw the start of our new fitness program. Every grade will rotate through several stations; exercise, sports, and team building. The next few weeks we will be teaching the students the proper way to stretch and exercise as well as basic skills necessary for several sports.

The fourth graders tried to untie themselves from a Human Knot. We wrapped up the week with a field trip to the Flint Public Library for Reading Month. The younger children enjoyed story time with one of the librarians, while the older grades were given a guided tour. Every child filled out an application for a library card which will be sent to their homes this week!
