CAMS 6th Grade Showcase of Talent!

shutterstock_137874182It’s time to get your act on for our 1st CAMS Showcase of Talent. If you have a talent to share please have your performance ready for auditions. Some acceptable acts are song, dance, short skit, music, monologue or poetry. Sign up outside the Main Office and start practicing!! Audition date you must attend is Wednesday, February 19th from 3-5p.m. in the Auditorium. Rehearsal dates are Monday, February 24th and Tuesday, February 25th from 3-5p.m. in the Auditorium. Performance night will be Friday, February 28th. at 7pm. You must make sure you can attend everything before you try out.

Boys basketball at Clarkston – moved to Monday, February 3rd.    Freshmen will play at Clarkston Middle School starting at 6:00.  JV and varsity will play at Clarkston HS starting at 5:30 for JV and 7:00 for varsity.

7/8 boys basketball at Holly has been rescheduled for Friday, March 14th starting at 4:00 p.m.

January 28

CAMS No Tardies Celebration

On December 3rd CAMS students with no tardies were treated to some snacks and a short break from class in recognition of this significant achievement.  The celebration is one of many CAMS positive behavior support traditions.

Congratulations, Mo Peeps!

Rankin’s LEGO Robotics Team (MO’ Peeps) won first place in the State Competition on Saturday, December 14. They competed within a field of 48 top teams from across the state and won the Champion’s Award, the most prestigious award of the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition.

Carman-Ainsworth Robotics Coach Leanne Welch explained, “The Champion’s Award encompasses the key elements of the Technical and Team Performance Awards, including Robot Design, Robot Performance Score, Project Presentation, and Teamwork. The team scored high in all areas.”

According to FIRST, the Champion’s Award honors the team that best “demonstrates the understanding and good practices of the wonders of science, technology, and engineering. The winning team members receive this highest honor and serve as valued role models for FIRST and FLL (FIRST LEGO League).”

As a result of winning this top honor, the Rankin LEGO Team was the only team in the state of Michigan selected to move on to the next level, the World Festival, to be held in St. Louis, Missouri, April 23-26, 2014. The team will be traveling to St. Louis to compete among teams representing other states as well as 35 countries

Team members include: Katie McGilvery, 8th Grade; Jamie Arnold, 7th Grade; Matthew Routt, 6th Grade; Jerianne Ingram, 6th Grade; Alyssa Snow, 5th Grade; Brayden Raether, 5th Grade; Noah Mattson, 4th Grade; Isaac Dixon, 4th Grade; Lydia Minzey, 4th Grade; and Zachary Osborn, 4th Grade. The Rankin FIRST LEGO League Robotics Team is coached by Leanne Welch, Andy Raether, and Erin Raether.

Barbie Bungee at CAMS

Mrs. Jan Johnson’s 8th grade math class sends Barbie over the edge. The class does a lab in which they measure the distance that Barbie can bungee jump with different lengths of rubber bands connected to her feet. The goal of the lab is create a graph and an equation representing the a proportional relationship.

WinterFest celebration

The  6th Annual WinterFest celebration will be held at the Carman-Ainsworth Middle School Cafeteria on Saturday, December 7th 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00PM. Fun, snacks, music, children’s activities, and a toy for every child with a visit from Santa. Admission is free but you may donate one of the following: a non-perishable food item, gently used coat, unwrapped toy or make a monetary donation. Donations support the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, Salvation Army, U.S. Marines “Toys for Tots”, and the Old Newsboys.

CAMS Performs McQuadle

CAMS put on a great performance of “McQuadle”. The production went from November 20-November 22 and was enjoyed by parents, students and staff alike. Great job to the CAMS students that put on this impressive show!
