Workshops on Wednesdays (WoW)
Summer program – Workshops on Wednesdays (WoW) which will be held at UM-Flint for 9th – 12th grade students (in 2015-16). Students will receive workshops on core content (some held with college professors) leadership, diversity and team building, as well as tours of the campus, residential halls, etc. – all in an effort to prepare them for college. Best of all, it is FREE and breakfast and lunch is included.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship
Scholarship dollars are available for the 2015/16 Fall/Winter Semesters; the Planning Committee of the Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Tribute Dinner is offering two $1,000 scholarships to Genesee County area seniors. Below is a link to the scholarship criteria and scholarship application; application is due no later than July 15, 2015.
Lions’ Ziggy Ansah helps Dye Students Go To Detroit Tigers Game
Mrs. Klein and Mrs. Keskes classes raised money all year popping popcorn on Fridays.
All of their hard work paid off on May 14th! The teachers surprised the classroom with a trip to see the Detroit Tigers!
And that was not all, with a generous donation from Mr. Lony Jarnigin’s (CA board member) GM Co-workers each student received a Tigers T-shirt. Another donation from a Dye staff member allowed them to experience each ride! The students were excited, happy and a little stunned! That is not the end of the story.

Immunization Clinics For Genesee County
Immunization Clinic available for all residents of Genesee County. Schedule your appointment by calling 810-237-4588. Next clinic will be held on August 12, 2015 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Flushing Early Childhood Center, 409 Chamberlain, Flushing MI 48433. Immunizations are provided by Genesee County Health Department Staff.

COMMENCEMENT EXPECTATIONS
- Dress Expectations – Appropriate Dress
- Males: Dress shirts, dress slacks, dress shoes (No T-shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, or beach sandals)
- Females: Appropriate length dresses, skirts, or dress slacks, dress shoes (No T-shirts, jeans, tennis shoes, or beach sandals/flip flops)
- This is a ceremony! Demonstrate pride, class, and dignity
- Please do not have side conversations, nor yell out names
- Noise makers or signs of any kind prohibited
- Nothing can be placed/painted on the caps other than the provided tassel
- Parents are not allowed in the staging area
- Photos (one free picture, order forms available through the mail)
- The only allowed cords, stoles are for Carman- Ainsworth events only such as NHS, Student Council, Honors Cords
- No other cords, décor, stoles are allowed for Honors or Graduation.
Post Graduation Party
- A fantastic and safe way to spend time with your classmates after graduation.
- Tickets on sale June 2nd during cap and gown pick-up for $20 and at lunches from now through May 19 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Tickets will be available the night of the Post-Grad Party from 10:00-11:30 p.m. for $25.
- This is a lock-in. Students will not be released until morning.

Dye’s Showcase Concert 2015
On Thursday, April 23rd, about 60 of the third, fourth and fifth grade musicians at Dye Elementary performed in the 2015 Showcase Concert. The concert began with all of the students singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “Charge On, Cavaliers.” Then the third graders took the stage, each of them taking turns singing duets for the verses of the traditional folk and popular songs they sang. After that, the fourth graders were featured playing their recorders. Next, the fifth graders performed a variety of songs, several of which included percussion accompaniments. For the finale, all of the students returned to the stage and sang two closing songs together. The concert was well received by a supportive and gracious audience. The musicians celebrated with a Tootsie Pop treat after the show.
