The Rankin 5^th grade students will be presenting a musical program entitled “I’m With the Band”. This special performance will take place on Thursday, April 18^th at 6:30 p.m. (students must be here at 6:00 p.m.). Please plan to relax and enjoy a musical cruise through the development of modern music. As the 5^th graders sing and perform a variety of music from influential bands and singer-songwriters from the 1950’s to the present.

Performance Dress: Students should wear white shirts, blue jeans and tennis shoes for the performance. Please NO dresses or dress shoes.

Attendance: This is a big night of fun for all 5^th grade students and parents. The performance is also a music grade. If your child cannot be there that evening it is important that your contact Mrs. Hall, Rankin music teacher, as soon as possible so she can arrange an appropriate make-up assignment for your child. Parents, once again we must ask for your assistance with our overflowing lost and found area. We have quite a collection of hats, gloves, shirts and even some lunch boxes and shoes! If your child’s name is on their belongings we can return lost items to them. If there is not a name we can only hope that someone recognizes their stuff and picks it up. With the warmer weather coming soon, kids tend to take off their coats when out for recess and then go back inside leaving them on the play ground. These items often make their way to lost and found. If you are dropping off your student, or picking up early, please take a minute and look through our collection of lost and found and see if anything belongs at your house. Any lost and found items left behind once school is out will be donated.

Rankin Elementary istrying to raise money for patients with leukemia and lymphoma. Last week students brought home a packet of papers explaining the different activities. For $1 students may buy a pass to listen to the iPod at lunch time on march 22^nd (only students you have purchased a pass may participate). For $2 students can send a “Jammie Grammie” to someone special. The deliveries will take place on Thursday, March 28^th. During the entire month of March Mrs. McGilvery is announcing a bingo word during morning announcements. In order to participate students must purchase a bingo card for just $1. And the big jar of candy kisses? The student who guesses the number of kisses in the jar or comes the closest will win the jar of candy. Each guess is just $.25 and the winner will be announced on the 28^th. Each classroom also has a penny box to collect spare change. The money raised by the classrooms will help to support the Pennies for Patients program. The classroom who raises the most money will win a pizza party next month.
