CAHS Parking Permits
Attention students presently driving to school. You will need to purchase your parking permit by September 20th at a cost of $35.00. Starting Monday, September 23rd a parking permit is required to park in the lot and the price will go up to $40.00. If you park without a permit, you will be ticketed. See Mr. Pickett at the greeter desk to buy a permit. Please have your license number at that time. Any questions or problems, see Mr. Pickett.
Representatives from the Military and various Colleges Begin Next Week
Representatives from the military and colleges will be starting to visit next week. Please check the bulletin board outside the guidance office for an updated list of upcoming visits. If interested in visiting with the representative at the given time a permission slip must be filled out. Slips are available in the guidance office. You must have your teacher’s permission to miss class that hour.

CA Teachers Win Contests and Become Published!
Congrats to Jessyca Mathews & Carrie Mattern, Carman-Ainsworth Teachers!
Carrie Mattern has written ALL ABOUT JANE, a work that won 2nd prize in the 2013 Sunset (prose writers) Contest. Jessyca Mathews won the MANA’s 2013 poetry contest. Both talented women are Language Arts teachers at Carman-Ainsworth High School. If you would like to meet these local authors and learn more about them, following are upcoming opportunities:
Carrie Mattern, will be reading at the Flint Crepe from 6:30-7:30, on Friday, Sept. 13 followed by a book signing. And on Saturday, Sept. 14, she will sign books and interact with attendees outside of A Bit of Earth’s booth (Farmer’s Market) from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Jessyca Mathews & Carrie Mattern will be hosts of an open mike event at Cafe Rhema (432 S. Saginaw Street, Flint) the last Tuesday of every month beginning in October. Jessyca and Carrie will be doing a book signing at Biggby Coffee on Thursday, Oct. 17 (more details to follow). The pair will also will be participating in the November 8 Greater Flint Arts Council Art Walk, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Also, Ben Anderson’s wife Jaime (Ben is a teacher at Rankin Elementary School) appeared on ABC 12’s Newsmakers last weekend to promote their recent child’s book (Life Lessons of Liam and Lila), which is one of a planned series. Donate Your Gently Used Homecoming Dresses
Donations are now being accepted of gently used and clean Homecoming dresses. All sizes and styles are welcome! Please drop donations off at: Dreams Do Come True office in Flint or at Expressions in Silk Bridal & Prom in Swartz Creek.
EFA Partners with Flint Crepe Co. to Raise Money!
EFA and The Flint Crepe Co. are partnering up on Tuesday, Sept. 10. ALL TIPS WILL BE DONATED TO THE EFA group at CAHS. They will be performing between 3:30-4pm.
EFA stands for Empathy for All. Students created this group four years ago in hopes to help make CA a positive place to learn, socialize, and work. They appreciate any support as their funding rewards two stand-out senior members with a scholarship each year!

Robotics Yard Sale
Robotics Yard Sale Fundraiser is taking place Saturday, August 31, Sunday, September 1 & Monday, September 2 from 9 am – 5 pm. Location is: 5301 S. Dyewood Drive, Flint 48532; between Court St and Calkins off Dye Rd.
All proceeds go to the robotics team. Stop by and support the team!
