Title I Cookies and Cocoa Night at Dillon Elementary
Dillon celebrated their Title I Cookies and Cocoa Night February 10. Families engaged in the If You Give… book series by Laura Numeroff. Students and their parents read books, listened to video stories, played games, made crafts, and practiced retelling. They also wrote a whole group story titled If You Give a Kid a Cookie. This story will be on display at the annual Language Arts Fair in March. Every Dillon student was able to choose a book to keep. And of course, everyone enjoyed cookies and warm cocoa!
Dye Elementary Meijer Rewards Program
As a non-profit organization, we are always looking for ways to help fund our operations without putting a large burden on the people we serve and without increasing our administrative costs. Recently, we took advantage of an opportunity to participate in a program offered by Meijer. We’re now enrolled in Meijer Community RewardsSM.
Carman-Ainsworth Academic State Champ Press Release
Bridge Magazine (bridgemi.com) recently published their annual Academic State Champs report which ranks how well schools and districts are educating their students while accounting for the impact that poverty has on student achievement. Academic State Champs isn’t a measure of achievement – it is a measure of overachievement.
So, how did Carman-Ainsworth fare? Take a look at the press release below!
Zarria’s experience during the MSBOA District III Honor’s Band at Brandon High School
On Saturday January 31, five CAMS students participate in the MSBOA District III Honor’s Band at Brandon High School. Zarria wrote a short article about her experience:
Oh my goodness! This was one amazing day including dynamics, staccatos, and teamwork! Our eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Kenworthy picked 5 students from her first and third hour classes which were; Kieana, Logan, Evan, Zarria, and Anjewel. Us five students went to Brandon High School in Ortonville, Michigan on January 31, 2015. The eighth grade honors band conductor was Ms. Stacie Detengen. In the 10 hours of practicing 4 pieces of music she taught us who was important in the particular time in the music and using teamwork. The 5 students from CAMS had to play the same music but with different students. The different students were from Grand Blanc East, Clio, Holly, and more schools. At the end of the 11 hour day we learned how to get along with different people in a short period of time and how to pay attention to the music. This experience was wonderful and awesome!

Help Recycle Markers
The Dye Art room is recycling dried up markers. A collection box is located outside the Art room. If you have any old useless markers, any kind, any color, simply drop them in the box. Last year we recycled over 4,000 markers. Let’s see what we can do this year.
Dye Elementary Recycles Paper
Please help support our program and put your used newspapers, magazines and school papers into our paper retriever outside in our parking lot. We have a 5th grade club that helps with this effort, it also helps the students understand the benefits of recycling.
